1. Project Description

Students will design a professional, persuasive infographic promoting a place for an outing in Cancún, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum. The infographic must combine visual communication and B2-level persuasive English to inform and attract potential visitors.

Students will choose one destination, research it, and create an infographic following academic and design guidelines.

2. Objectives

By the end of the project, students will be able to:

  • Use B2-level persuasive and descriptive vocabulary to promote a tourist destination.
  • Summarise and transform research findings into clear, concise infographic text.
  • Apply principles of visual communication: clarity, hierarchy, contrast, and readability.
  • Combine written text, icons, images, and layout to produce an academic infographic.
  • Present their infographic orally (optional) with fluency and confidence.

3. Allowed Destinations

Students may select one place from:

Cancun

  • Isla Mujeres
  • Nichupté Lagoon
  • MUSA (Underwater Museum of Art)
  • Puerto Morelos mangroves
  • El Meco archaeological site

Playa del Carmen

  • Río Secreto
  • Parque Los Fundadores
  • Quinta Avenida cultural zone
  • Punta Esmeralda Beach
  • Cenote Azul

Tulum

  • Kaan Luum Lagoon
  • Gran Cenote
  • Sian Ka’an Reserve
  • Tulum Archaeological Zone
  • Tulum National Park

(Or teacher-approved alternatives.)

4. Final Product: Infographic Requirements

Your infographic must include the following mandatory elements:

A. Title & Visual Identity

  • Catchy title
  • Logo or icon representing the destination
  • A slogan (e.g., “Discover Natural Magic”)

B. Content Sections

You must include nine sections:

1. Introduction - A general idea of the infographic information.

2. Overview of the Place – short description (40–50 words).

3. Why do you have to visit  it? – 3 persuasive reasons using B2 vocabulary.

4. Activities & Highlights – 3–5 attractions or things to do.

5. Practical Information – prices, schedule, location, transportation.

6. Ideal For… – families, adventurers, couples, etc.

7. Call to Action – persuasive closing sentence (e.g., “Don’t miss your next great experience!”)

8. Conclusion - A brief academic conclusion summarizing why the place is worth visiting.

9. References – APA 7 format

C. Visual Components

Your infographic must contain:

  • Minimum 5 icons
  • Minimum 3 images or background visuals
  • A clear colour palette
  • Logical reading order
  • Balanced text–image ratio (40% text / 60% visuals)

D. Language Requirements

You must use:

  • At least two linking devices: however, although, therefore, as a result
  • At least one conditional: If you visit… you will enjoy…
  • Two relative clauses: which is…, where people can…
  • Persuasive adjectives: stunning, vibrant, unforgettable, remarkable, unique

5. Instructions for Students

  1. Select one destination in Cancún, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum.
  2. Conduct research (official websites, travel blogs, tourism guides).
  3. Organise your information into the six required sections.
  4. Write all text using B2-level structures.
  5. Design your infographic using Canva, PowerPoint, or Google Slides.
  6. Submit your final infographic in PNG, JPEG, or PDF format.
  7. Present your infographic (optional) in 2–3 minutes.
