ACADEMIC PROJECT: “Our Favourite Place to Go Out” – Team Infographic Project (A1 Level)

 

1. Activity Name:

“Our Favourite Place to Go Out: A1 Infographic Project”

 

2. Purpose of the Activity:

The purpose of this project is for A1 English learners to collaborate in teams to describe a place for going out using there is, there are, there isn’t, there aren’t, while producing a clear and visually structured infographic that includes the required content sections.

 

3. Instructions for Students (Teams of 3–4):

Work in teams to create an infographic about a place where people go out (beach, park, mall, café, plaza, restaurant, museum, etc.). Your infographic must include the following sections:

 

SECTION 1 — TITLE (ABOUT A PLACE & WHY WE LIKE GOING THERE)

• Create a creative title such as:
“We Love Sunny Park!” or “Why We Go to Moon Café”
• Add one sentence explaining why your team likes going there.

 

SECTION 2 — PLACE DESCRIPTION (TYPE + LOCATION + CONCEPT)

Include 2–3 short sentences:
• Type of place (park, café, beach, restaurant, mall…).
• Location (in Cancun, near the beach, in our neighborhood, downtown…).
• Concept (quiet place, family place, fun place, modern place…).

 

SECTION 3 — WHAT’S THERE?

Write 4 sentences with there is and 4 sentences with there are.
Examples:

  • There is a big fountain.
  • There is a small café inside the park.
  • There are many trees.
  • There are comfortable benches.

 

SECTION 4 — WHAT’S NOT THERE?

Write 4 sentences with there isn’t and 4 sentences with there aren’t.
Examples:

  • There isn’t a supermarket.
  • There isn’t a parking lot.
  • There aren’t loud concerts.
  • There aren’t any tall buildings.

 

SECTION 5 — OPINION CONCLUSION (WHY WE LIKE GOING THERE)

Write 2–3 simple sentences explaining your team’s opinion:
• Why you like the place
• Why it is good for relaxing, having fun, eating, etc.

 

SECTION 6 — REFERENCES (APA 7 FORMAT) – MUST APPEAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE INFOGRAPHIC

Use the following required references in your infographic.

 

Final Step: Team Presentation (5-10 minutes)

Each member must read part of the infographic using clear sentences.
